Actor Serhat Kılıç, who was unreachable in Istanbul's Kağıthane district, was found dead, naked, on the sofa in his living room by his girlfriend, Özlem Esmergül. Giving a statement at the police station, Esmergül said that when she first saw Kılıç, she thought he was sleeping, but when she called out to him and grabbed his arm, she noticed his skin was cold and called 112. While the investigation into the suspicious death continues, the definitive cause of death will be determined by the autopsy results.
Actor Serhat Kılıç, who was unreachable at his home in Istanbul's Kağıthane district, was found dead, naked, sitting in an armchair in the living room by his girlfriend Özlem Esmergül. As the judicial investigation launched into the suspicious death that occurred on September 5 continues, the detailed statement given by his girlfriend, who found Kılıç in that state, has come to light.
"I SAW HIM SITTING NAKED"
Özlem Esmergül, who entered the address in Nurtepe neighborhood with her own key on the day of the incident because she could not reach her boyfriend, described the moment she found Kılıç naked at home in her statement to the police as follows:
“Since I had the spare key to Serhat's house, when I entered the apartment directly, I saw Serhat sitting naked in the single armchair in the living room, his hands on his chest. Then, thinking Serhat was asleep, I called out to him and shook him by his arm. Realizing from his cold skin and lack of response that something was wrong, I first called his sister Sinem Kılıç to inform her, and then immediately called 112 emergency services to request help.”
"HE SAID HE WAS FIRED FROM THE SET IN A TEARFUL VOICE"
The statement also reflected that the actor had suffered severe pain and experienced problems related to his work in the days leading up to his death. Describing the process that began on September 3, Esmergül stated the following:
“I have had a relationship with my boyfriend Serhat Mustafa Kılıç for about 8 years. Serhat and I would have short periods of discord. On September 3, he had a set filming around 11:00 AM. Around 11:45 AM, I learned that Serhat had not gone to this set filming. Then I called Serhat and asked why he didn't go to the set and said everyone was wondering about him. Serhat told me he wasn't feeling well due to a hernia in his neck, that he was in pain, had taken a lot of medication, but the pain continued, he was suffering greatly, and said he would talk to his manager and inform him about why he didn't go to the set, ending the call. After a while, I called him again and reproached him, saying he was being irresponsible for not going to the set. Serhat said he had a medical report and that there would be no problem, and ended the call again.”
Stating that phone conversations continued later that same day, Esmergül explained how communication broke down with these words:
“Around 4:00 PM the same day, he called me in a tearful voice and said he had been fired from the set, he was very sad, that no matter what he did, his pain wouldn't go away, and that he didn't want to talk to anyone because he was upset, ending the call. Since he was upset, I tried not to pressure him because I wanted him to be alone and pull himself together. During this period, I tried to support him by constantly calling and sending messages, but Serhat never responded to my messages or calls in any way. Thinking he wanted to be alone and that the medications he was using made him sleepy, I tried not to call too much. Finally, today, September 5, around 5:00 PM, when I called Serhat again, I noticed his phone was off, and because I was worried about him, I came to his home in Nurtepe neighborhood.”
"HE HAD NO SUBSTANCE OR ALCOHOL ADDICTION"
After the health and police teams who arrived at the house informed her of the death, Esmergül gave the police the following details about Serhat Kılıç's existing illnesses and medication history:
“As far as I know, Serhat had illnesses such as high blood pressure, gastritis, and a neck hernia. For these illnesses, he was using two different types of medication: a green prescription pill for the neck hernia whose name I can't remember, a blood pressure medication whose name I also can't remember, and a pill he took 7-8 times a day. As far as I know, he had no substance or alcohol addiction. Also, I don't know when or how my boyfriend Serhat Mustafa Kılıç died.”
The actor's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures, and the definitive cause of death will become clear after the examinations.

Meanwhile, Serhat Kılıç's last moments were captured on the security camera of the building where he lived. In the footage reflected on the security camera of his residence building, Kılıç, who arrived at his home, is seen waiting for the elevator while leaning against the wall, and when the elevator didn't come, he headed towards the stairs.
