Tasnim News Agency published the written statement made by the Revolutionary Guards on the issue. The statement said, "Early last Wednesday morning, a PSS-T model surveillance balloon belonging to the US army, deployed around Erbil Airport in northern Iraq, was targeted and destroyed by Shahid-136 UAVs belonging to the Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force."

In the statement, which also shared footage claimed to show the moment the balloon was struck, it was noted that the balloon, unlike traditional flying balloons, was deployed in a fixed position at a specific point and used like a surveillance tower.
The statement claimed that the balloon, approximately 35 meters long, could carry various payloads of up to 500 kilograms. Although no exact altitude was officially announced, some sources indicated the balloon was deployed at an altitude of about 750 meters.
It was stated that the struck balloon could surveil its surroundings 24 hours a day and could typically remain in the air for up to a month.
AIRCRAFT CARRIER AND DESTROYER ALSO HIT
Iranian state television shared footage of the moments when a US aircraft carrier and a destroyer were hit by the Revolutionary Guards.
"RETALIATORY ATTACKS"
In the footage broadcast on Iranian state television, it was stated that these attacks were carried out in retaliation for the US attacking 3 Iranian oil tankers.
The narration in the footage claimed that a US aircraft carrier and a destroyer were hit with Iran-developed Qasem Basir missiles, and that after the attack, these warships withdrew from the region.
