18.02.2018 20:58

'I want to do something in return for Turks' generosity,' says Halid Osman, who studied for a year in Turkey.

After a year in Turkey, a Sudanese university student is now offering local children in his village free Turkish lessons on weekends.

Halid Osman, a student at Khartoum's University of the Holy Qur'an and Islamic Sciences, returned home from a year studying in Turkey and decided to give lessons to children in the village of Yeni in Omdurman, west of the capital.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Osman, 24, said he loves the Turkish language.

"Turkey is like a homeland for me. I will never forget Turks' generosity. I wanted to do something in return for this. I really wanted the children in my village to learn Turkish," he said.

He added: "I teach Turkish to 25 children age 10-15 in my village on weekends. I'm personally very interested in my students."

Hasan Adem, 14, one of Osman's student said: "During the week, I memorize the Holy Qur'an and on weekends, I take Turkish lessons. I enjoy learning Turkish." -
