Erdal K., who stabbed and killed his wife Elif K. in the middle of the street in Kocaeli's Dilovası district, has been arrested. The suspect claimed he committed the murder after his 5-year-old daughter told him that her mother was seeing someone else. However, it emerged that the child, questioned with a pedagogue present, made no such statement, and no evidence supporting the infidelity claim was found in testimonies from close acquaintances or technical examinations.
In the Dilovası district of Kocaeli, Erdal K., who stabbed his wife Elif K. multiple times on a public street, was arrested. The suspect claimed that he committed the murder after his 5-year-old daughter said her mother was seeing someone else. However, statements taken during the investigation and technical examinations found no evidence to support this claim.
STABBED HIS WIFE TO DEATH ON A PUBLIC STREET
The incident occurred on 705th Street in the Diliskelesi neighborhood of Dilovası district. Erdal K., after an argument that started at home, stabbed his wife Elif K. multiple times on a public street. As the severely injured woman collapsed in a pool of blood, the suspect did not flee the scene.
Following the report, medical and police teams were dispatched to the area. Elif K., who was taken to the hospital, succumbed to her injuries despite all medical interventions.
CITIZENS ATTEMPTED LYNCHING
After the murder, citizens gathered in the area and reacted towards Erdal K. Following an attempted lynching of the suspect, police teams had difficulty dispersing the crowd. It was learned that a police officer fired warning shots into the air. Erdal K., who was taken into custody, was referred to the courthouse after processing at the police station.
AUTOPSY REVEALED 8 STAB WOUNDS
In the autopsy conducted at the Kocaeli Forensic Medicine Institute, it was determined that there were 8 stab wounds on Elif K.'s body. After procedures were completed, the body was handed over to her family. Elif K. was laid to rest in her hometown of Erzurum.
SUSPECT'S CHEATING ALLEGATION
In his statement taken as part of the investigation, Erdal K. claimed that the incident began during breakfast in the morning. The suspect alleged that his 5-year-old daughter said her mother was meeting another man, arguing that the dispute arose for this reason. However, information included in the investigation file did not support this claim.
DAUGHTER'S TESTIMONY DEBUNKED THE ALLEGATION
It was determined that the 5-year-old girl, whose statement was taken with a pedagogue present, did not make any statement consistent with what her father claimed. Additionally, statements from the couple's close circle and technical examinations found no evidence confirming the cheating allegation. Meanwhile, it was learned that the couple had moved to the Diliskelesi neighborhood about two months ago, had 5 children, and had separated and reunited from time to time. It was reported that their 5-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son were also at home during the murder.
COURT ORDERED ARREST
Erdal K., who was referred to the Gebze Courthouse after processing at the police station, was arrested and sent to prison by the court where he was brought.
