Syria Says It Thwarted Israeli Pre-Dawn Attack On Damascus Countryside

The Syrian regime's air defense system thwarted an Israeli pre-dawn attack on a site in the Damascus countryside region on Thursday, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

"At approximately 03: 20 (local time) at dawn today, the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting one building in the countryside of Damascus," SANA reported, "ing a military source as saying.

The source added that the army's air defense responded "to the missile aggression and shot down some of them."

The news agency noted that losses were limited to material ones.

There was no immediate comment from Israel.

Israel has been carrying out occasional attacks on Iranian-backed groups and military posts belonging to the army in Syria since the civil war began in 2011. -
