Kocaeli Governorship announced that due to the superstructure renovation works between the Muallimköy and Gebze junctions on the TEM Highway, the Ankara-Istanbul direction will be completely closed to traffic starting from 08:00 on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 (tomorrow); transportation will be diverted to the D-100 highway and the Northern Marmara Motorway, and the connection branches from the Osmangazi Bridge to the motorway will also be closed, with the works to be carried out on a 24-hour basis.
Within the scope of pavement repair and renewal works on the TEM Highway Kocaeli section; the Ankara-Istanbul direction between Muallimköy Junction and Gebze Junction will be completely closed to traffic starting tomorrow morning. Transportation will be provided via the D-100 highway and the Northern Marmara Highway.
The Kocaeli Governorate announced an important decision closely concerning drivers within the scope of ongoing pavement improvement and major repair construction works between the TEM Highway Gebze Junction and Dilovası Junction. According to the written statement, works will begin on a critical section of the highway from tomorrow on a 24-hour basis, and traffic flow will be directed to alternative routes.
TRAFFIC TO BE DIRECTED TO D-100 AND NORTHERN MARMARA HIGHWAY
In the statement made by the Governorate, the closed lanes and alternative routes were listed as follows to prevent driver inconvenience during the works:
- The TEM Highway Ankara-Istanbul direction will be completely closed to traffic, and flow will be transferred from Muallimköy Junction to the D-100 State Road and the Northern Marmara Highway.
- Entrances from the D-100 State Road and the Northern Marmara Highway to the TEM Highway Muallimköy Junction Istanbul direction will be closed. Vehicles using this direction can choose the D-100 or make a U-turn from the underpass before the Bilişim Valley Junction.
- At Muallimköy Junction, the lanes coming from the Osmangazi Bridge direction connecting to the TEM Highway Istanbul and Ankara directions will also be closed to traffic. These vehicles can continue their journey via the D-100.
WORKS START TOMORROW (JUNE 2) MORNING
The major repair works, expected to significantly affect traffic in the region, will start on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 08:00. It was reported that all safety measures will be taken, and necessary markings will be made according to the approved traffic project during the round-the-clock (24-hour basis) works.
The Kocaeli Governorate warned that drivers using this route must meticulously follow the traffic signs and signals on the road for their life and property safety.
