Temperatures are dropping nationwide, and heavy rain is coming to Istanbul.

Temperatures, which have been reaching 40 degrees in many cities, are expected to drop in the coming days. Particularly in the inland areas of the country, there will be a decrease in temperature up to 28-29 degrees, while thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul tomorrow and on Wednesday.

The temperatures, which are above the seasonal norms throughout Turkey, will decrease by 7-8 degrees, especially in the inland areas, towards the weekend and rainy weather will prevail.

Mehmet Özdemirci, the Meteorology General Directorate Weather Forecast Expert of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, made evaluations regarding the weekly weather forecast. Özdemirci pointed out that the temperatures above the seasonal norms in the country will decrease from Wednesday, saying, "Temperatures are currently 3-4 degrees above the seasonal norms nationwide. However, temperatures will decrease to the seasonal norms, especially in the inland areas. From Saturday onwards, they will decrease a bit more in the inland areas and we will experience lower temperatures than what we are currently experiencing in the coming days," he said.

1-2 DEGREE DROP IN COASTAL AREAS

Özdemirci stated that the temperatures, which are around 35-36 degrees in the Central Anatolia Region, will decrease to 32 degrees from Wednesday and to 28-29 degrees after Saturday. Emphasizing that the temperature drop will be particularly experienced in the inland areas of the country, Özdemirci stated that temperatures in the coastal areas will only decrease by 1-2 degrees.

HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED IN MARMARA REGION

Özdemirci stated that intermittent showers are expected in the western part of Marmara, the inland areas of Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Central and Eastern Black Sea, and Konya and Afyonkarahisar regions tomorrow. "The impact area of the showers will expand on Wednesday, and we expect showers and thunderstorms in the eastern part of Marmara, Western and Central Black Sea, inland areas of Eastern Black Sea, general of Central Anatolia Region, inland areas of the Mediterranean, and Afyonkarahisar. On the other hand, temperatures will be above 40 degrees in Aydın and Denizli," he said.

WEATHER CONDITIONS IN 3 MAJOR CITIES

Özdemirci stated that thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul tomorrow and on Wednesday, and temperatures will range between 32-33 degrees during the day and 25-26 degrees at night for 3 days. Özdemirci stated that partly cloudy weather will prevail in Ankara tomorrow and there is no expectation of precipitation, saying, "We expect precipitation, especially in the central and eastern districts, on Wednesday. We expect rainy weather with temperatures between 21-33 degrees on Thursday."

Özdemirci stated that there is no expectation of showers in Izmir for 3 days and temperatures will range between 36-38 degrees.
