While search efforts continue for the 10 sailors from the TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU ship that sank off the coast of Silivri, a physical attack was carried out against members of the press who were following the developments. Security forces intervened in the scuffle that occurred at Silivri Port, and those moments were captured on camera.

As search and rescue efforts continued following a ship accident that occurred off the coast of Silivri in the night hours, tense moments were experienced at Silivri Port.

The tanker named ALSU, sailing from Kocaeli to Aliağa, and the dry cargo ship named TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU, heading from İskenderun to Karadeniz Ereğli, collided approximately 18 nautical miles south of Silivri. Following the collision, TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU sank, and all 10 Turkish sailors on board have not yet been reached.

RELATIVES OF THE SAILORS ARRIVED AT THE PORT

After search and rescue efforts began, relatives of the crew on board TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU also arrived at Silivri Port. The relatives, after receiving information from officials, began waiting at the port for news from the search operations.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the ship sank within 11 minutes after the collision and reported that no one from the 10-person crew has been reached alive so far.

PHYSICAL INTERVENTION AGAINST PRESS MEMBERS

Tension broke out for an unknown reason between press members at Silivri Port, who were there to follow developments regarding the accident, and a group in the area.

In the shared images, a crowd is seen scuffling in the area where the tent belonging to the Istanbul Governorship is located, with some individuals making moves towards press members and physically intervening. Police and officials on site stepped in to separate the parties, and the brawl continued for a short time.

In the images, a person is also seen falling to the ground, with bystanders and security personnel trying to disperse the crowd.

There is currently no official statement regarding who carried out the attack or the reason for the incident.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO SHIP ACCIDENT

Meanwhile, the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the ship accident. Within the scope of the investigation, instructions were given to collect the vessels' navigation, radar, and communication records, as well as images, documents, and other evidence related to the incident.

A Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and two Public Prosecutors were assigned to conduct the investigation.

Extensive search and rescue efforts continue by air and sea to find the 10 sailors from TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU.
