During the General Assembly of the Parliament, tensions rose between İYİ Party Deputy Group Chairman Turhan Çömez and AK Party deputies during discussions on the AK Party group's proposal to extend the working schedule. Turhan Çömez called out to the AK Party benches, saying, 'Where are you, for God's sake?' In response, AK Party deputies sitting in their seats stood up and reacted to Çömez. Other deputies intervened to prevent the argument from turning into a fight.
It was proposed that the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) continue its work between August 7-11. In the proposal submitted by AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, it was also requested that the Assembly continue its work until the negotiations on the Bill numbered 147 are completed.
İYİ PARTİ'S ÇÖMEZ: YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED
Taking the floor on the group proposal, İYİ Party Deputy Group Chairman and Balıkesir Deputy Turhan Çömez argued that the regulations on the Assembly's agenda were brought to the General Assembly without being sufficiently discussed. Criticizing the regulations regarding the relatives of martyrs, veterans, and children dragged into crime, Çömez claimed that relevant parties were not allowed to participate in the commission's work.
Continuing his speech, Çömez reminded of the General Assembly session held the previous day, claiming that there were not enough deputies in the AK Party rows, saying, "Yesterday you said 'Let's work on Friday, Saturday, Sunday,' but you were not in the Assembly. There were 194 deputies. Previously, fake ballots were also given. You should be ashamed."
AK PARTY'S AÇIKKAPI: YOU ARE HERE BUT YOU DON'T SHOW UP
Upon Çömez's words, AK Party Elazığ Deputy Ejder Açıkkapı frequently took the floor from his seat, reacting with the words, "Why didn't you enter the roll call?", "You don't enter the roll call, you are here but you don't show up."
Çömez responded to Açıkkapı, saying, "Come and work here. I am turning my back on you because you don't deserve this. This is not the palace's approval body, this is the Gazi Parliament."
AK PARTY'S DURGUT: SHAME ON YOU
AKP Istanbul Deputy Müşerref Pervin Tuba Durgut also joined the debate. Durgut addressed Çömez, saying, "Don't approve it, its blessing will be lost" and "You both demand a roll call and don't enter it. Shame on you."
Çömez, continuing his criticisms, said, "Instead of shouting from there, come and do your duty. Instead of giving fake ballots and betraying the nation's will, come and work here."
ÇÖMEZ CALLED OUT "WHERE ARE YOU FOR GOD'S SAKE?" AND TENSION ROSE
Due to the mutual verbal altercations, noise rose from time to time in the General Assembly, and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly frequently invited the deputies to calm down.
Upon the opposition's request, the group proposal was put to a vote by electronic voting. In the voting held, the decision quorum could not be found. After the result was announced, Turhan Çömez called out to the AK Party rows, saying, "Where are you for God's sake?" Upon this, the AK Party deputies sitting in the AK Party rows stood up and reacted to Çömez.
Other deputies intervened and prevented the argument from turning into a fight.
