73-YEAR-OLD MAN LOSES HIS LIFE
The accident occurred around 09:00 at the Keramet neighborhood location on the Orhangazi-İznik highway. While traveling from Orhangazi towards İznik, the car with license plate 06 JRU 49, driven by Hakan Akşit (50), who lost control, flew into an olive grove on the roadside and hit a tree. In the accident, the car driver and 5 people in the vehicle, including 1 child, were injured. With the help of those around, 5 people were removed from the vehicle, while Abdullah Akşit in the front seat was trapped. At that moment, the car caught fire, and upon notification, fire and medical teams were dispatched to the region. While the burning car was extinguished by fire crews, it was determined that Abdullah Akşit, who was trapped in the vehicle, had lost his life.
The car driver Hakan Akşit, along with Hatice Akşit (68), Nurcan Genç (45), Güldeniz Altınbaş (23), and 3-year-old Umut, were taken by ambulances to Orhangazi and İznik State Hospital after their initial interventions. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
