19.09.2024 11:51

Nurse Gizem Elif Türk, who was involved in the alcohol explosion case that occurred 3 years ago at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital, claimed that the explosion was caused by another nurse using a lighter.

In the case of the explosion that occurred 3 years ago at Zongoldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital, nurse Gizem Elif Türk, who was burned in the incident, claimed that nurse Önder E. caused the explosion by saying "Is the alcohol pure or diluted? Should I set you on fire?" and then igniting the lighter in her hand. Türk said, "I suffered a lot of pain besides my burns. I am the only one who knows the pain I went through. I warned him, 'Brother, don't do it.' He didn't listen. I am telling what I saw. I want the person who caused these pains to be punished." Nurse Önder E., who is being tried without detention for the crime of "injuring multiple people by negligence," said through his lawyer, "There is no evidence of how the incident occurred."

"IS THE ALCOHOL PURE OR DILUTED? SHOULD I SET YOU ON FIRE?"

The incident took place on December 10, 2021, at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital. Önder E., Gizem Elif Türk, and Yılmaz Yapıcı were filling bottles with medical alcohol when the explosion occurred. Nurse Gizem Elif Türk and hospital staff member Yılmaz Yapıcı were injured due to the flames. Yılmaz Yapıcı received treatment at the hospital where he was working, while Gizem Elif Türk was treated at Kocaeli Derince Education and Research Hospital. Türk, who suffered deep burns on her body, underwent treatment for 52 days. Gizem Elif Türk claimed that nurse Önder E. caused the explosion by saying "Is the alcohol pure or diluted? Should I set you on fire?" and then igniting the lighter in her hand. Following the investigation conducted by Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a lawsuit was filed against Önder E. for the crime of "injuring multiple people by negligence."

FINAL REPORT HAS ARRIVED

During the hearing held at Zonguldak 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, Gizem Elif Türk, Yılmaz Yapıcı, and their lawyers were present, but the defendant Önder E. did not attend. In the hearing, the report of Yılmaz Yapıcı, who was referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute, arrived. In the definitive report regarding the condition of the injured, which has been awaited for 2 years, it was stated that the wounds on Yapıcı's face healed, there were no permanent scars, and there were no functional disorders in his organs. Yapıcı's lawyer stated that his client was exposed to more injuries as a result of the incident and therefore requested a new report.

'AM I LYING?'

In his defense, the defendant's lawyer said, "One of the plaintiffs says that my client ignited the lighter, while the other says she didn't see it. We request the examination of the camera footage." Nurse Gizem Elif Türk reacted by saying, "I am telling what I saw, am I lying?"

'CLARIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE'

The defendant's lawyer said, "There is no evidence of how the incident occurred. There is no report containing findings about whether Önder caused the accident by igniting the lighter or for any other reason. When my client went to the police station, he took out the lighter from his pocket and said, 'Maybe this caught fire.' And the incident has come this far. We request the examination of the camera footage and clarification of the cause of the fire. Because there is no clear and scientific report."

Yılmaz Yapıcı's lawyer stated, "It is evident from the camera surveillance record that he had a lighter or a phone-like object in his hand. There is no doubt that he did not ignite the fire."

'I SUFFERED A LOT OF PAIN BESIDES MY BURNS'

Gizem Elif Türk, who was promised to give her statement, spoke while crying. Nurse Türk said, "Besides my burns, I suffered a lot of pain. If I were to make false accusations, I would accuse Yılmaz abi as well. I am the only one who knows the pain I went through. I warned him, 'brother, don't do it.' He didn't listen. I am telling what I saw, and I want the person who caused these pains to find justice."
