Tesla surprised the crypto world with its unexpected Bitcoin move.

16.10.2024 10:03

Tesla has moved its $765 million worth of Bitcoin assets to secret wallets. Elon Musk's company recently transferred its crypto assets through 26 separate transactions. This surprising move signals a change in Tesla's crypto strategy, but it did not have a significant impact on the Bitcoin market. More details are expected in the company's third-quarter financial report.

The electric car giant Tesla has made a move that has sent shockwaves through the crypto world. The company transferred all of its Bitcoin holdings, valued at 765 million dollars, to unknown wallets. This unexpected move indicates a significant change in Tesla's crypto strategy and has sparked speculative discussions in the markets.

Tesla Moves 765 Million Dollars Worth of Bitcoin Assets to Mysterious Wallets

The electric car giant Tesla has taken an unexpected step in its crypto asset portfolio. All of the Bitcoin, worth approximately 765 million dollars, held by the company has been transferred to unidentified wallets.

According to data from crypto data analysis firm Arkham Intelligence, nearly all of Tesla's Bitcoin (BTC) assets were moved in 26 separate transactions that occurred recently. After the initial trial transfer, only 6.68 dollars worth of Bitcoin remained in the relevant wallet.

It was known that Tesla had not moved its crypto assets for a long time. The company's last activity in this area was recorded on June 17, 2022. These sudden transfers occurred without any indication that the Bitcoins were sent to any crypto exchange. Tesla management has not yet made a statement regarding the future of these crypto assets.

According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, it remains uncertain whether Tesla still holds 11,500 Bitcoins. This amount places the company fourth among publicly traded companies that own Bitcoin, following MicroStrategy, Marathon Digital, and Riot Platforms.

Tesla's Bitcoin adventure began in February 2021 with a 1.5 billion dollar investment. In March 2021, the company briefly accepted Bitcoin as a payment method for purchasing Tesla vehicles. However, this practice was terminated shortly thereafter. In March 2021, the company sold 4,320 BTC, and in 2022, it disposed of 29,160 BTC.

On the other hand, it is known that Elon Musk's other company, SpaceX, holds 8,285 Bitcoins valued at 553 million dollars. This amount positions SpaceX as the seventh largest private company that owns Bitcoin.

More detailed information regarding Tesla's recent Bitcoin activity is expected to be included in the company's third-quarter financial report, which will be released on October 23.

According to market data, Tesla's large-scale transfers did not cause significant fluctuations in the Bitcoin market. The price of Bitcoin has remained at 66,790 dollars, with a 1% increase over the last 24 hours.
