UEFA announced its decision regarding national football player Merih Demiral, who made the wolf sign after scoring a goal in the Austria-Turkey match.

RECEIVED A 2-MATCH BAN

An investigation was launched against our player Merih Demiral after the Austria match, which took place on July 2nd and ended with a 2-1 victory for our National Team. UEFA has given a 2-match ban to our national football player Merih Demiral. It was stated that the decision was taken within the scope of Article 11 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, which is "General principles of conduct".

Here is UEFA's statement;

In its statement, UEFA said, "The player of the Turkish Football Federation, Merih Demiral, has violated the general principles of conduct, breached basic courtesy rules, used sports events for non-sporting displays, and damaged the reputation of football. Therefore, it has been decided to ban him from participating in a total of two (2) UEFA national team matches.".

TFF CANNOT APPEAL TO CAS

The Turkish Football Federation cannot appeal to CAS for the penalty imposed on Merih by UEFA. In order to be able to appeal to CAS, the penalty must be 2 matches or less.

ABSENT IN THE NETHERLANDS MATCH

Due to the penalty imposed by UEFA, Merih, who will not be able to wear the national team jersey for 2 matches, will not be able to take the field in the quarter-final match against the Netherlands in the 2024 European Football Championship. If we advance to the semi-finals, the national football player will also be unable to play due to his suspension.
