The mystery in the case of Ayşen Aycan, who had been missing in Denizli since 2016, was resolved after 10 years. Her ex-husband Turgay D., who was taken into custody, confessed to the murder, stating that he killed Aycan and buried her body in an empty field. The murder suspect also showed the prosecution the location where he buried the body.
In the Çivril district of Denizli, Ayşen Aycan could not be reached as of one week after divorcing her husband in 2016. All efforts to find the missing Ayşen Aycan were unsuccessful.
THE FILE WAS REOPENED 10 YEARS LATER
Ten years later, in connection with the cold case files initiated by the Ministry of Justice, the Çivril Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took Ayşen Aycan's file off the shelf.
6 SUSPECTS, INCLUDING THE EX-HUSBAND, WERE DETAINED
Teams from the Denizli Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau meticulously investigated Ayşen Aycan's file once again. Following the investigations, a dawn operation was conducted on May 19 at 8 different addresses. Within the scope of the operation, 6 suspects, including the ex-husband Turgay D., were taken into custody.
HE CONFESSED AND SHOWED WHERE HE BURIED THE BODY
The homicide bureau teams, who determined that Ayşen Aycan had been killed, cross-examined the suspects. The detained ex-husband Turgay D. confessed to the murder during the interrogation. Stating that he picked up Ayşen Aycan from her mother's house on the day of the incident, Turgay D. said they argued in the vehicle, and after the argument, he assaulted Ayşen Aycan. Then, claiming he killed Ayşen Aycan, Turgay D. stated that he buried the unfortunate woman's body in an empty field between the Kıralan and Tokça neighborhoods of Çivril. During the site inspection with the Chief Public Prosecutor, the murder suspect recounted in detail how he committed the murder and how he buried the body.
