In the incident that took place in Şehit Rüstem Demirbaş Park in Uluönder neighborhood of Tepebaşı district, 18-year-old Arda K. attacked people sitting in the tea garden with a knife. Arda K., who concealed his face with a mask, helmet, and goggles, attacked 5 citizens in the area with a knife before being caught and taken into custody. The procedures of Arda K. (18) at the police station have been completed.

ARRESTED

Arda K., who was brought to Yunus Emre State Hospital accompanied by special operations police, was sent to the courthouse after a health check. While a wide security measure was taken by riot police around the hospital and courthouse, the 18-year-old attacker was arrested and sent to prison.

"OBSERVED THE SURROUNDINGS BY CLIMBING ON ROOFS"

This is Uluönder neighborhood in Tepebaşı. The attacker came to this point after playing a computer game. He changed his clothes in the empty area of this building and put on his helmet and bulletproof vest, then moved towards the area where the mosque is located. The game the child played was about cutting tools. We came here early in the morning and had the opportunity to talk to the citizens. According to what the citizens said, the attacker had come to this point before, observed the surroundings by climbing on roofs. After changing clothes, he moved to the park of the mosque. He had pepper spray, a knife, and a machete in his hand. After entering, he ran forward. There are parks and playgrounds inside. The citizens were sitting and having tea and chatting. He came here, looked around, and stabbed one person, then stabbed another person. His next target was the tram stop. He also stabbed a person there. A total of 5 people were injured."

SOCIAL MEDIA POST ATTRACTED ATTENTION

Bekmezci said, "The police officer who noticed the attacker going to his duty place followed and caught him. Today, this place is deserted. We cannot see the children. The attacker was taken into custody and the procedures are ongoing. There was an interesting detail; it turned out that the attacker had planned the attack before. In his social media post, he used the expressions 'I will take a shower, go out with my equipment, go to the place where I will carry out the attack by car or public transportation, change my clothes. I attack everyone with my axe and vest'."

"A CHILD OF A QUIET FAMILY"

Hasan Güler, the muhtar of Uluönder neighborhood, stated that Arda K., who carried out the knife attack, lived in their neighborhood until 3 years ago. Güler said, "He used to live in our neighborhood. Then they moved to Çamlıca neighborhood. I don't know about his childhood, but his family is a quiet couple working in a factory. He is one of the 2 children of the family. According to what we read on the internet, he was raised by his grandparents. It seems like the family was taking care of him, of course, but we don't know for sure. He was introverted. There must be someone he knows here among the people involved in the incident. Because he spent his childhood here. He chose the elderly in the tea garden in the incident."

"I HANDED A TISSUE TO AN INJURED PERSON"

Muharrem K., who helped the injured people in the attack, said the following: "I saw blood in some parts of the people lying on the ground. I looked again. There was someone holding their stomach near the tram stop. Then the police caught him. I handed a tissue to a person who was injured in front of the mosque. I still have a part of the tissue with me. The citizens who helped were trying to bandage the wounds with the papers they found on the ground. There was so much blood that they washed this place with a hose. I saw 3 injured people here. He had a different outfit. Then the police caught him. But the child didn't say anything."

In Tepebaşı district of Eskişehir, Arda K., who came to Şehit Rüstem Demirbaş Park in Uluönder neighborhood on Rauf Orbay Street yesterday, attacked some people with a knife. T.A. (71), C.Ö. (57), N.Ö. (87), M.K. (64), C.A. (64) who were sitting in the tea garden and park were injured in the attack. The attacker, who had a helmet on his head, an axe on his waist, a mask on his face, and a bulletproof vest, was caught by the police.
