The "6 months-6 thousand kilometers" and "Advertisement restriction" practices in the automotive sector have been extended until January 1, 2025. So far, millions of lira fines have been imposed on those who do not comply with the restrictions. New regulations have been implemented stating that motorcycles, cars, and off-road vehicles cannot be marketed or sold directly or indirectly until 6 months and 6 thousand kilometers have passed since their initial registration date, by authorized dealers and individuals engaged in the trade of second-hand motor vehicles, until July 1, 2024. "PREVENTING PRICE INCREASES AND ELIMINATING VICTIMIZATION"In a statement made by the Ministry of Trade, it was stated that as a result of the regulations and inspections, unfair gains through the sale of zero vehicles as second-hand have been prevented, and it has been ensured that real beneficiaries can access vehicles by contributing to the increase in the supply of zero vehicles, and speculative price increases in the automotive sector have been prevented, eliminating consumer grievances. In this regard, taking into account these achievements, the Ministry of Trade has decided to extend both regulations for a period of 6 months until January 1, 2025. "CONTINUING TO PREVENT SALES OF 3 OR MORE"The statement also stated that "In this context, in addition to those engaged in the trade of second-hand motor vehicles with a license for second-hand motor vehicle trade, all individuals or legal entities who sell three or more second-hand motor vehicles within a calendar year without a license will continue to be prevented by notaries from making sales that violate the 6 months-6 thousand kilometers regulation." ADDITIONAL MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN IF NECESSARYIt was learned that the Ministry of Trade will continue to work meticulously to ensure price stability in favor of consumers and to establish a fair and balanced market structure for sector officials with these regulations implemented in motor vehicle trade, and additional measures will be taken if necessary. MILLIONS OF LIRA FINES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE RULESThe Ministry announced that as of June 27, approximately 52 million TL in administrative fines have been imposed on authorized car dealerships and car galleries within the scope of the 6 months-6 thousand kilometers regulation, and approximately 90 million TL in fines have been imposed on those who violate the advertisement restrictions.
