The Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), in its latest strategic report, ranked the 8 countries that Israeli public opinion and leadership perceive as the greatest security threats. Despite the support of its ally the United States, Israel, which has deep concerns about its presence in the region, placed Turkey second on its list after Iran.
Amid escalating tensions and military conflicts in the Middle East, the Jerusalem-based Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) published a notable society index report. The report presented data on the countries that the Tel Aviv administration and Israeli public are most concerned about from a security perspective.
TURKEY SECOND AS A REGIONAL POWER
In the published list, the country Israel views as a primary military and strategic threat was Iran. Turkey, coming immediately after Iran, was recorded as the second country that Israeli society is most concerned about and closely monitors as a regional power through its diplomatic, military, and strategic moves.
Turkey's deterrent position in the region and its policies on the international stage were assessed as one of the main risk factors in Israel's security analyses.
THE LIST INCLUDED 8 COUNTRIES
In JPPI's report, the 8 countries ranked according to the threat perception of the Israeli public were stated as follows:
- Iran
- Turkey
- Lebanon
- Qatar
- Syria
- Yemen
- Egypt
- Saudi Arabia
The report showed that despite the military and political support provided by the United States, Israel's security concerns and strategic worries arising from neighboring countries remain at a high level.
