The barrel price of Brent crude rose by 2.4 percent to $111.48, affected by increasing tensions in the Middle East and attacks on energy facilities. News that the US and Israel could carry out new attacks on Iran, the targeting of an oil facility in Saudi Arabia, and the hitting of 4 ships in the Persian Gulf increased concerns about global supply.

In international markets, the barrel price of Brent crude rose to $111.48 due to increased military tension in the Middle East and attacks on energy facilities. Reports that the US and Israel are planning new attacks on Iran, the targeting of oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, and the hitting of 4 ships in the Persian Gulf increased concerns about global oil supply.

2.4% RISE IN BRENT CRUDE

The December futures barrel price of Brent crude, which rose to $111.32 yesterday, completed the day at $108.82. As of 09:14 today, it gained about 2.4% compared with the previous close and reached $111.48.

At the same time, the December futures barrel price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude traded at $99.23.

In addition to escalating tension in the Middle East, inventory and production data from the US also contributed to the rise in oil prices.

US AND ISRAEL PREPARE NEW ATTACK ON IRAN

It was claimed that the US and Israel are considering conducting new military operations against Iran after the US midterm congressional elections to be held on November 3.

According to reports in the US press based on unnamed officials, the armies of the two countries are carrying out concrete preparations for possible attacks.

While it was stated that US President Donald Trump could decide on a military operation this month, it was reported that the Washington administration is evaluating different options to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

It was stated that some officials advocate not targeting refineries and energy infrastructure in possible attacks to prevent sharper rises in oil prices.

However, even the possibility of military intervention increased concerns in the markets about supply security.

ATTACK ON OIL FACILITY IN SAUDI ARABIA: 2 DEAD

The Shaybah Oil Field, located in southeastern Saudi Arabia and operated by the national oil company Aramco, was also the target of an attack carried out with an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced that 2 people lost their lives and 2 people were injured in the attack.

The ministry reported that the UAV heading toward the facility was intercepted by air defense systems, but a fire broke out in a vehicle outside the facility.

Although it was stated that there was no disruption in oil production and facility operations, the attack increased concerns about the security of energy facilities in the region.

4 OIL TANKERS HIT IN THE PERSIAN GULF

Another development affecting the oil markets occurred in the Persian Gulf.

The Naval Forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that 4 ships carrying out ship-to-ship oil transfers in the northern part of the gulf were targeted simultaneously.

In the statement, it was reported that the ships, which were stated to be using unauthorized routes, were hit and that the fires continue.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards accused the US of directing the ships toward mined routes and warned that if this situation continues, US bases in the region could also be targeted.

The attacks on the ships strengthened concerns that oil shipments through the Persian Gulf could be interrupted.

US OIL INVENTORIES FELL MORE THAN EXPECTED

In addition to developments in the Middle East, oil data announced in the US also contributed to the rise in prices.

According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, commercial crude oil inventories in the country decreased by about 3.1 million barrels last week to 412.5 million barrels.

The markets had expected inventories to decrease by only 100 thousand barrels.

While the US strategic petroleum reserves also fell by 300 thousand barrels to 282.7 million barrels, daily crude oil production decreased by 410 thousand barrels to 13.269 million barrels.

CRITICAL LEVELS IN OIL PRICES

In the oil market, eyes turned to military developments in the Middle East and the security of energy shipments.

In technical analyses, $112.91 is being followed as a resistance level and $103.58 as a support level for Brent crude.

If tension in the region continues, volatility in oil prices is expected to continue.
