The Antalya Governor's Office announced that an investigation has been launched into the 'Little Miss and Little Mister United World' beauty pageant, which was stated to be organized with the participation of children aged 4-13. The organization, about which the Ministry of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint, has been canceled.

Following developments regarding the children's beauty pageant planned to be held in Antalya under the name "Little Miss and Little Mister United World," official authorities issued successive statements. While the Ministry of Family and Social Services filed a criminal complaint about the organization, the Antalya Governor's Office announced that the pageant had been canceled.

MINISTRY TOOK ACTION

The Ministry of Family and Social Services launched an investigation after reports that children aged 4-13 would participate in the pageant. Opposing the evaluation of children by adult beauty standards, the Ministry emphasized that the organization was incompatible with children's rights.

The Ministry's statement included the following: "As the Ministry of Family and Social Services, we are filing a criminal complaint about the organization in question. It is unacceptable for children to be made to compete based on their physical appearance, to be placed into aesthetic molds inappropriate for their age and development, and to be evaluated by adults' beauty standards. Such organizations that turn children into commercial elements are incompatible with children's rights and the principle of the best interests of the child."

"ALL NECESSARY LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS WILL BE TAKEN"

Stating that protecting children's healthy development is among its fundamental responsibilities, the Ministry continued its statement as follows: "Protecting our children's physical, mental and psychosocial development is our fundamental responsibility. No commercial activity, promotion or organization is more valuable than our children's rights and well-being. Necessary investigations have been initiated by the relevant units of our Ministry. In order to protect our children, all necessary legal and administrative steps will be decisively taken within the framework of our duties and powers, and the process will be followed meticulously."

ANTALYA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED THE CANCELLATION DECISION

Following the Ministry's statement, the Antalya Governor's Office reported that the children's beauty pageant had been canceled. Stating that investigations into the organization were continuing, the Governor's Office made the following statement: "A criminal complaint has been filed by the Ministry of Family and Social Services about the organization in question, the necessary investigations have been initiated, and the organization has been canceled. Protecting our children's physical, mental and psychosocial development, safeguarding their rights and keeping them away from all kinds of negative effects is essential, and the administrative and legal process regarding the matter will be carried out meticulously."
