The application starts tonight: The time difference between Turkey and Europe will increase to 2 hours.

26.10.2024 12:20

European countries will switch to winter time on the night of Saturday, October 26, to Sunday, October 27. This will increase the time difference between Turkey and Europe to 2 hours. Turkey has not implemented this practice since 2016.

In most of Europe, the daylight saving time will end on the night of October 26, Saturday to October 27, Sunday, and the clocks will be set back one hour.

NOT APPLIED IN TURKEY SINCE 2016

However, Turkey will not set the clocks back due to its permanent daylight saving time arrangement implemented since 2016. While many countries make this transition to benefit more from daylight, Turkey's permanent daylight saving time is defended by the government on the grounds that it provides energy savings.

The winter time application starts tonight

TIME DIFFERENCE WILL INCREASE

With the winter time application, phones and digital clocks will be automatically adjusted, while those with mechanical clocks will have to set them back one hour. In Turkey, however, the daylight saving time will continue. With Europe's transition to winter time, the time difference between Turkey and Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, and Denmark will increase from 1 to 2, and with the UK to 3.
