As part of the investigation into the tender fraud initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, who was detained in the Edremit district of Balıkesir on January 13 and brought to court, appeared before a judge with a request for arrest after the prosecutor's interrogation. A total of 23 people, including Akpolat, were arrested by the court. DISMISSED FROM OFFICEShortly after Akpolat's arrest, the Ministry of Interior announced that Akpolat had been dismissed from office. In a statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was stated, "An investigation is being conducted into the crimes of 'Bribery and membership in a criminal organization' under the file number 2024/236201 of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and following the arrest decision dated 17.01.2025 and numbered 2025/34 by the Istanbul 6th Magistrate's Court; Rıza Akpolat has been temporarily dismissed from office by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 3595."
