The attacker who shot the imam got angry at someone wearing shorts praying.

It has been revealed that the attacker who injured the mosque imam by shooting an arrow in Bağcılar did so because he was angered by a person wearing shorts praying in the outer part of the mosque. One of the eyewitnesses of the incident said, "The person attacked the imam, saying 'Why are you allowing this person in shorts to pray?' Upon this, the imam went inside. We took the person outside. When we finished praying and went outside, I saw that the person aimed the arrow at us."

In Istanbul Bağcılar, the attacker who shot the mosque imam with an arrow was detained and sent to the courthouse where he was arrested by the duty criminal judge, while the details of the attack slowly began to emerge.

"I SAW HIM AIMING AT US"

Eyewitness and shopkeeper Murat Salim, in his statement, explained that he went to the mosque for the midday prayer. Salim mentioned that during this time, a person got angry at someone wearing shorts praying outside the mosque. "Later, this person came. He attacked the imam, saying 'Why are you allowing this person in shorts to pray?' The imam went inside. We took the person outside. When we finished praying and went outside, I saw the person aiming at us with a bow. I saw that the first arrow hit the imam on his right side. When I saw him put on the second arrow, I ran and jumped on the attacker, rendering him ineffective," he said.

Meanwhile, the imam D.K., who was being treated at Bağcılar Education and Research Hospital, was discharged today. It was reported that the imam's treatment will continue at home.

D.K., who worked as an imam in a mosque in Bağcılar Merkez Mahallesi, was injured by an arrow shot from his right shoulder near the mosque.

Witnesses of the incident had taken the injured person to a nearby hospital. The attacker, M.F.G., who was captured as a result of the Istanbul Police Department's investigation, was arrested by the duty criminal judge at Bakırköy Courthouse after the procedures at the police station.
