The proposal for the Law on Notary Public and Amendments to Certain Laws was accepted in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

WORKING WITH INSURANCE WILL NOT PREVENT LAWYER INTERNSHIP

According to the regulation, working in any job with insurance, provided that it does not actually hinder the lawyer internship, will not prevent the completion of the lawyer internship. Except for candidates or assistants of judges and prosecutors in judicial and administrative jurisdictions, those working in the positions or posts of public institutions and organizations will also be able to do their lawyer internship without salary or on unpaid leave during the internship period in courts, provided that their duty location is preserved.

NOTARY LAW HAS BECOME LAW

The law regulates the procedures and principles regarding the working hours and days of notaries. The Notary Fee Schedule will be prepared at the beginning of January instead of March each year. Taxes, fees, charges, and other transaction costs that need to be paid due to the transactions carried out and documents prepared in notaries will be collected in cash or by using bank cards, credit cards, and similar cards. Notaries will prepare the declarations for the previous month within the first five business days of each month and submit them to the relevant departments within the same period. A processing participation fee of 2 lira will be charged by the Union of Turkish Notaries for each inquiry or returned record shared with individuals and institutions based on the information in the vehicle registration and certification system database within the framework of the Highway Traffic Law. According to the law, notary transactions prepared with handwritten signatures will be recorded in the information system of the Union of Turkish Notaries with a secure electronic signature.

CRITICAL PERIOD IN DIVORCE CASES REDUCED TO 1 YEAR

With the amendment made to the Turkish Civil Code, the name change will be registered in the civil registry and announced on the Press Advertisement Agency's announcement portal. The period required for couples who cannot establish a common life after the finalization of the rejection of the divorce case to file a new case will be reduced from 3 years to 1 year. State universities will be able to establish Child Monitoring Centers (ÇİM). The provision regarding influence agents has been removed from the proposal.
