Akgöl, located within the borders of Konya and Karaman, which dried up last year, has regained its former appearance by holding water after recent rainfall. The region has started hosting many migratory bird species again, especially flamingos.

Located on the borders of Ereğli and Karapınar districts of Konya and Ayrancı district of Karaman, the 6,787-hectare Akgöl Reedbeds, declared a first-degree natural site in 1993 and a nature conservation area in 1995, form an important point on the migration route of migratory birds.

HOSTS 200 BIRD SPECIES

The reedbeds, which are of great importance as a habitat for migratory birds, sustain over 200 different bird species such as flamingos, cormorants, and pelicans.
