The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul started the day with an increase of 0.34%, reaching 8,647.94 points. The banking and holding indices also gained value. Abroad, the results of the U.S. presidential election and their market effects are being monitored.

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul started the day with a 0.34% increase at 8,647.94 points.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 29.37 points and 0.34% compared to the previous close, reaching 8,647.94 points.

The banking index gained 0.35%, while the holding index increased by 0.40%.

Among the sector indices, the construction sector was the biggest gainer with 1.06%, while the metal main industry was the biggest loser with 0.19%.

After a selling trend yesterday, the BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul ended the day with a 0.52% loss, closing at 8,618.57 points.

TRUMP'S VICTORY PRICED IN

As global markets experienced a mixed trend ahead of the results of the presidential elections in the USA, according to unofficial results, Republican candidate Donald Trump is leading the race against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

With the election results, changes in the economic policies of the USA are expected, and it is anticipated that this will also affect asset prices.

The dollar index rose by 1.7% to 105.2 following these results.

After the yield on the US 10-year Treasury bond reached its highest level since the beginning of July at 4.44% with an increase of about 15 basis points, it pulled back to 4.42%.

VOLATILITY MAY INCREASE IN MARKETS

Analysts noted that expectations regarding the policies Trump may pursue if elected president are reflected in asset prices, stating that volatility in the markets may increase today.

Today, analysts indicated that the data agenda domestically is calm, while abroad, in addition to the results of the US presidential elections, factory orders and services sector PMI in Germany, services sector PMI and Producer Price Index (PPI) in the Eurozone, and weekly mortgage applications in the USA will be monitored. They also noted that technically, the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 8,800 and 8,900, while the support levels are at 8,600 and 8,500 points.
