The breathtaking chase that lasted for miles between human trafficking suspects and gendarmerie teams on the Akçakale border line ended in a wheat field. In the operation, where villagers provided support by sharing real-time location, the escape attempt of the mask-wearing suspects was stopped by the gendarmerie's warning shots.

In the Akçakale district of Şanlıurfa, a chase reminiscent of movie scenes unfolded over 10 kilometers between masked suspects allegedly involved in human smuggling at the border and gendarmerie teams. The pursuit, extending through irrigation canals and wheat fields, ended with warning shots from the gendarmerie.

VILLAGERS REPORTED, GENDARMERIE TOOK ACTION

In Akçakale, located at zero point on the Syrian border, neighborhood residents who received intelligence about human smuggling for money along the border line promptly reported the situation to gendarmerie teams. Citizens who tracked the suspicious vehicle shared real-time location information with security forces, igniting the operation.

10 KILOMETER CHASE

The suspicious vehicle, which did not heed the 'stop' warning from gendarmerie teams dispatched to the area, accelerated and began fleeing along the border. During the dangerous pursuit lasting approximately 10 kilometers between the vehicle containing masked individuals and the teams, tense moments were experienced in the region.

THEY ABANDONED THE VEHICLE AND FLED TO THE FIELD

Realizing their escape route was blocked, the driver abandoned the vehicle on a bridge over an irrigation canal. The three masked suspects who got out of the vehicle tried to flee on foot by entering an endless wheat field to cover their tracks.

Seeing the suspects advancing in the field, gendarmerie teams blocked the escape route and fired warning shots into the air. After the gunshots, the three suspects, realizing they could not escape, surrendered with their hands raised.

The action-packed moments on the border were captured second by second on the mobile phone cameras of nearby citizens. While the three detained suspects' procedures at the gendarmerie continue, a comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing.
