The candidate of the DEVA Party: Arrested for terrorism.

Prof. Dr. Cenap Ekinci, who serves as a faculty member at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, was arrested on charges of propaganda for a terrorist organization due to his posts on social media.

According to the information received, Prof. Dr. Cenap Ekinci made posts regarding recent developments in Syria on his social media account.

ARRESTED

Prof. Dr. Cenap Ekinci was summoned for questioning by the Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch (TEM) due to his social media posts. After his statement at the police station, Ekinci was detained and, following the completion of his procedures, was referred to the courthouse.

In his statement here, Cenap Ekinci claimed that he had no connection to the terrorist organization and denied the allegations, but he was arrested by the court on charges of 'making propaganda for a terrorist organization.'

Ekinci had been a candidate for the mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality from the DEVA Party in the local elections scheduled for March 31, 2024.
