He said, "It would be better if her hand was not in her pocket."

Republic People's Party Nizip Mayor Ali Doğan recently visited a private laboratory. During this visit, a female agricultural engineer working in the laboratory gave a presentation to Mayor Doğan. When the woman, who had one hand in her apron pocket during the presentation, was unexpectedly asked by Doğan to take her hand out of her pocket, the atmosphere became tense.

VIEWERS REACTED

After the footage spread on social media, reactions to Nizip Mayor Ali Doğan were swift. Citizens expressed that "The gesture is rude and primitive!", "Everyone who reaches a position changes. What difference does it make if the employee's hand is in their pocket or not?" highlighting that the action was disrespectful.

Speaking to Gazetepencere, Doğan defended his actions. He stated:

"I think we depict how much we value women at the opening with a woman cutting the ribbon. She was showing us around the laboratory. I thought there should be a formality while making a presentation in front of the press and citizens, and that's why I just warned her. It would be better if her hand was not in her pocket. I believe that if a staff member is explaining something related to the institution and is responsible, they should act with that awareness."

"NO ONE SAYS THE MAYOR HAS ESTABLISHED A LABORATORY FOR FARMERS THERE"

Regarding the reactions he received on social media, Ali Doğan said, "People are taking what they need from there. I am sorry about this. No one says the mayor has established a laboratory for farmers there for a proper agricultural policy."
