The Tunceli Governorship announced that the planned pumice and sand quarry project has been canceled through the initiative of Governor and Deputy Mayor Şefik Aygöl.
Citizens reacted strongly to the planned pumice and sand quarry project in the Hozat and Pertek districts of Tunceli.
GOVERNOR TOOK ACTION
Following the reactions, the governorship took action. In a statement made by the governorship, it was noted that the sensitivity of citizens towards nature in Tunceli was taken into account.
PROJECT CANCELED
The statement included information that decisions were made regarding some projects in the city, announcing that the project has been canceled.
The statement recorded: "The pumice and sand quarry project planned to be established in a total area of 2,200 acres in Hozat Karabakır village, Dorutay and Ardıç villages of Pertek, and the Orcan region has been canceled as a result of our Governor Şefik Aygöl's meetings with the relevant ministries.
Our Governor Şefik Aygöl shared this important and joyful development with our fellow citizens during his visit to the Ağuçan (Seyit Mençek) Alevi Lodge and Cultural Center, emphasizing once again the importance given to Tunceli's nature and the demands of our citizens. The decision taken has been a strong indication of our determined stance to protect the natural texture of our region, our living spaces, and the legacy we will leave to future generations."
