Some media outlets claimed that "the request for 15 minibuses made by the President of the Turkey Human Rights and Equality Institution (TİHEK), Fahrettin Altun, was rejected"
STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER
The claim in question was denied by Altun's lawyer, Sezgin Tunç. In a statement he made on his social media account regarding the issue, he said, "My client, Mr. Fahrettin Altun, has neither a request for 15 minibuses from the ministries nor a rejected request."
"WE WILL USE LEGAL MEANS"
Tunç included the following statements in his explanation: "As claimed in a newspaper and news site, TİHEK President my client, Mr. Fahrettin Altun, has neither a request for 15 minibuses from the ministries nor a rejected request. Writing a lie that can be understood at first glance, such as '15 minibuses,' under the guise of backstage is not compatible with the profession of journalism and is completely devoid of seriousness. We will use legal means against the media outlets that wrote and published this article about my client, who considers every type and level of public duty as an honorable service for the public good. We respectfully announce this to the public."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Fahrettin Altun, who serves as the President of the Communications Directorate, was appointed as the President of the Turkey Human Rights and Equality Institution (TİHEK) last month with a decree published in the Official Gazette signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Burhanettin Duran, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was appointed to the Communications Directorate position vacated by Altun.
