Despite the ceasefire agreement, clashes have resumed between Thailand and Cambodia, spreading along the border, with the number of casualties rising to 10. Tensions escalated further as Thailand's F-16s and artillery targeted Cambodia. In response, Cambodia announced that it would begin attacks "along the entire border."

Despite a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, clashes have erupted along the border.

According to reports from the Cambodian press, officials announced that Thai soldiers targeted civilian residential areas. The statement indicated that 7 civilians were killed and 20 others were injured in attacks carried out over the past two days.

Thai media reported that 2 of its soldiers were killed and 1 was injured during the clashes that lasted throughout the night. With another death reported the previous day, the number of Thai soldiers killed has risen to 3. Thus, the total death toll from the clashes has reached 10.

HOSPITALS EVACUATED

In Thailand's Ubon Ratchathani province, where clashes have intensified, some hospitals have been evacuated for security reasons.

The renewed clashes at the border have led to a large-scale evacuation in the region. Thousands of people living in border villages have been forced to leave their homes due to security concerns. Many individuals reportedly spent the night in temporary shelters. Both sides have claimed that the other initiated the clashes.

This latest tension between the two countries, which has occurred since the ceasefire agreement signed in July, is considered the most serious conflict.

CLASHES REIGNITED BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

Thailand and Cambodia have held each other responsible for the renewed clashes that began again yesterday morning amid rising border tensions despite the ceasefire.

Thai Army Spokesman Winthai Suvaree stated that fire was opened from Cambodia on "military and civilian targets," and the army responded with airstrikes.

Suvaree expressed that 1 Thai soldier was killed and 8 soldiers were injured in the clashes.

The Cambodian Ministry of Defense announced that the Thai army had launched airstrikes with F-16s.

Defense Ministry Spokeswoman Maly Socheata claimed that the Thai army initiated the airstrikes and that Cambodia did not respond.

Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra stated that 4 Cambodian civilians were killed and 9 were injured in the clashes.

LEADERS' MESSAGES

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, in a statement regarding the clashes that began yesterday morning, noted that government officials are working to protect the people and the country's sovereignty.

Manet said, "I ask all ministries, institutions, officials, armed forces, and Cambodian citizens to unite for the cause of the nation and homeland during this difficult time."

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that military operations would continue if deemed necessary to defend the country and ensure public safety.

Charnvirakul, who argued that his country does not want "violence," reiterated, "I want to emphasize that Thailand has never initiated a war or invasion, but will never tolerate violations of its sovereignty."

BORDER TENSION BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA

Thailand and Cambodia, separated by 817 kilometers of border fences in Southeast Asia, have long been experiencing territorial disputes.

Following the violation of the border agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, a brief clash occurred in the region on May 28, and the armies of both countries agreed to resolve the issue peacefully.

Approximately two months later, clashes that broke out on July 24 along the border resulted in the deaths of 32 individuals from both countries.

On October 26, Thailand and Cambodia signed a "peace agreement" during a ceremony attended by U.S. President Donald Trump at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, aimed at resolving the border clashes that erupted in July.

Cambodia announced that it had begun to withdraw heavy weapons from the border areas in mutual agreement with Thailand following the peace agreement after the border clashes.
