The contactless payment limit on credit cards is set at 1500 TL.

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) announced in a letter sent to banks in April that the limit for contactless card payments without a PIN will be increased from 750 TL to 1500 TL starting from July 1st.

DOUBLED AFTER 2 YEARS

Starting from Monday, July 1st, a new era begins for contactless payments without a PIN on credit cards. The contactless transaction limit, which was increased to 750 TL in July 2022, will be raised to 1500 TL after 2 years.

IMPORTANCE INCREASED DURING THE PANDEMIC

In 2020, contactless payment methods gained importance due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, increasing the demand for secure payment methods as consumers became more concerned about hygiene.

While the BDDK's decision to raise the contactless payment limit to 1500 TL without requiring a PIN after 2 years is expected to provide convenience to users, it has also been commented that this decision is related to the excessive increase in prices due to inflation.
