B. K., a 38-year-old woman living in Ankara, underwent a tummy tuck and breast silicone surgery in 2021 at a private hospital in Keçiören by V. K., who introduced himself as a plastic surgeon. After the operation, B. K. experienced persistent pain and developed infections in her body, and she was met with the indifferent attitude of the doctor she sought help from. SHOCKED WHEN SHE STARTED INVESTIGATINGSuspecting the situation, the victim woman began to investigate Dr. V. K. B. K. photographed the diploma of the doctor she visited at his clinic and wanted to find out if it was real by contacting the university written on the diploma. After receiving the response that the diploma was fake, B. K. also contacted the relevant institutions and learned that there was no such doctor in the records. THE CASE WAS CLOSED DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCEAfter learning that she had been operated on by a fake doctor, the woman filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. The case opened three years ago was closed due to lack of sufficient evidence, while B. K., who did not give up on the incident, filed another complaint with new evidence she collected with her lawyer. Her lawyer, Yiğit Kaymaz, stated that the hospital where the operation was performed was also involved in the incident and that they would continue their legal struggle until the responsible parties received the heaviest punishment. "THE SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIORS AFTER THE OPERATION MADE ME WORRIED"Speaking about the incident, the victim woman B. K. said, "In 2021, I decided to have surgery. I went to a clinic through a nurse friend. As a result of my conversation with the doctor, I learned that the surgery was performed in a well-known hospital in Ankara by renting an operating room. I discussed the financial details, and a date for the surgery was set. The suspicious behaviors after the operation made me worried. I wanted to conduct an investigation. In my research, I learned that he was not a doctor. I reached out to both the Ministry of Health and the Medical Association. He removed my drains at the place he used as a clinic. When he removed those drains, I saw his diploma and took a photo of it because I was suspicious. I questioned his diploma. The university said they did not have such a doctor and had not graduated anyone like that. I filed criminal complaints about this, but they were rejected due to lack of evidence," she said. "I STARTED TO RECEIVE STRONG REACTIONS"B. K. expressed that she was subjected to harsh reactions from the fake doctor after the surgery, saying, "During my discharge, he did not give me any prescription related to antibiotics. He told me that I could use any antibiotic at home. Because of this, I had to undergo a long-term medication process related to the infection. The infection did not leave my body because the antibiotics he gave me were insufficient. When I objected to him about this, and when I said he did not show enough interest, he reacted very differently. His reactions worried me. Therefore, I started an investigation. Later, he said that another doctor performed my surgery. He had only introduced that person to me as his university professor. I had never seen that person before; I did not have an examination. I went to that hospital knowing him, and because I trusted him, I had this surgery. When I expressed that I did not know that professor and questioned why I would have surgery with someone I did not know, his reactions became even harsher," she said. "I KNOW THAT HE IS STILL INTRODUCING HIMSELF AS A DOCTOR IN THE HEART OF ANKARA"B. K. also claimed that the person who performed the surgery is still continuing the same job, saying, "I made a payment of 20,000 lira to his account. Because I made a payment to him, the hospital said 'we have not received any payment' and sent the 20,000 lira to collection; I am currently in a situation of being collected. I also objected to this decision. It is very frightening that a non-doctor collaborates with the doctor there to put people under the knife for money and perform surgeries, putting my life at risk. I am sure there are many victims regarding this. This is unacceptable. He has not studied medicine, has no education. Even though about 4 years have passed, I cannot get rid of this situation. Anything could have happened. I know that he is still introducing himself as a doctor and performing procedures in the heart of Ankara," she stated. "WE FOUND NEW EVIDENCE IN OUR RESEARCHES"The lawyer of the case, Yiğit Kaymaz, stated, "The victim approached us due to the damage she suffered from a surgery she underwent in 2021. However, she mentioned that there was already a legal struggle before this application, that she had filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, but the case was closed due to lack of evidence. In our research, we found new evidence. Based on this evidence, we filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. In our investigations, we reached unexpected evidence that upset everyone," he said. "WE FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY VICTIMS DUE TO THE SURGERIES"Kaymaz stated that as they deepened their research, they identified many victims, saying, "We reached the images of the surgery performed in a well-known hospital in Ankara, witness statements, and some reports. As a result of our research, we determined that the person who performed the surgery used a fake doctor diploma. We applied to the university from which the diploma was obtained and shared the images. We also inquired about the diploma from other relevant units. However, we did not receive any positive feedback from anywhere and confirmed that the diploma was fake. We found that the fake doctor had performed surgeries on many people, resulting in many victims. We also reached camera recordings and other evidence and filed a criminal complaint," he said. "WE WILL FOLLOW THIS TO THE END"Kaymaz expressed that they would follow the process, saying, "We will do our best to ensure that those involved receive punishment." Our faith in justice is infinite. Together with our prosecutors and judges, we will follow this issue to the end. Whoever is guilty, and whoever has been harmed, we will work with all our might to ensure that it does not happen again," he said.
