Fishermen who completed their preparations for the new season in the Black Sea set sail by saying 'Vira bismillah'. As the bountiful bonito season comes to an end in the first weeks of the season, anchovy, along with horse mackerel, whiting, chub mackerel, and sea bass, has found its place at the stalls.

The abundance of anchovy, sold for 125-150 TL per kilogram, and its length reaching 12 centimeters has pleased both fishermen and citizens. At the Trabzon Fish Market, bonito is sold for 175 TL each, anchovy for 125-150 TL per kilogram, horse mackerel for 100 TL, whiting for 150 TL, red mullet for 250 TL, yellowfin for 300 TL, sargan for 300 TL, chub mackerel for 400 TL, sea bream for 350 TL, salmon for 250 TL, and sea bass for 300 TL.

Fisherman Ahmet Çoğalmış stated that the anchovy season is progressing as they expected, saying, "The situation of anchovy is very good. The abundance of bonito will continue with anchovy. It’s a good season. According to the current situation, it will also be a much-anticipated anchovy season. There is also plenty of whiting and horse mackerel. The price of horse mackerel is between 75-100 TL. Prices are also reasonable. There is a longing for fish. Our citizens are also pleased," he said.

Customer Ecevit Cebeci noted that prices are reasonable, stating, "The fish are fresh, and the prices are reasonable. Compared to meat and chicken prices, fish prices are cheap. It’s the perfect season for anchovy. We came to buy anchovy to grill. We started with bonito and continue with anchovy. In the summer, we eat trout and sea bass," he said.

Fisherman Turgay Memiş stated that the bonito season is coming to an end, saying, "Bonito is almost finished, currently priced at 175 TL each. We are in the final days. Anchovy, horse mackerel, and whiting have started to come in. Anchovy is a fish loved by the people of the Black Sea. Prices are normal. We will see how the weather conditions affect the future. Bonito has been abundant for two and a half months. Hopefully, anchovy will also be plentiful. It has almost reached a length of 10 centimeters. Horse mackerel also has a length of 12-13 centimeters. There is plenty of variety. Chub mackerel is also available. The public is satisfied with bonito; hopefully, they will be satisfied with anchovy as well. Our wish is for anchovy to last for another month and a half," he said.
