Interior of the Russian-flagged cargo ship, reported to have been attacked off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port, has been seen for the first time. The severe damage on the ship, which ran aground in Şile, drew attention.
The OMSKIY-107, which is 108 meters long, had previously only been viewed from the outside and from the air. Content creators Mustafa Kurt and Ibrahim Koyuncu entered the ship and captured footage of the burned captain's bridge, shattered equipment, and the heavy damage.
In the footage, the captain's bridge was seen completely burned, the control panel was shattered, and the windows were broken. It was notable that numerous equipment items were damaged by the high heat, and some sections contained large openings and fragmented metal parts.
It had been reported that the Russian-flagged OMSKIY-107 was attacked off the coast of Novorossiysk, after which the crew abandoned the ship using lifeboats, and the vessel drifted uncontrollably for weeks before reaching Sile Alacali Shore.
"THERE WAS A SMELL OF GUNPOWDER INSIDE"
Mustafa Kurt, who stated that they noticed the ship from the shore and swam to board it, said they stayed inside for about 15 minutes. Kurt said, "The inside was truly terrifying. Everything was burned and shattered."
Kurt stated that they saw some parts inside the ship that they thought could be linked to the attack, and he expressed that these could be pieces of ammunition or unmanned aerial vehicles. Kurt also said that there was still a smell of gunpowder inside the ship.
TRACES OF THE ATTACK ON THE SHIP'S HULL
In the footage, a large opening was seen in the most affected area of the ship from the attack. Traces of fire and fragmentation on the superstructure were also clearly noticeable.
"NO ONE SHOULD EVER TRY THIS"
Mustafa Kurt, who stated that they got caught in a rip current in the sea after getting off the ship, said that their experience was quite dangerous. Kurt said, "Even though I am experienced, I struggled. No one should ever try this."
