In a drug operation in Çekmeköy, Istanbul, police officer Emre Albayrak was martyred, and during the operation, suspect Ramazan Açik was neutralized while C.A. and Ç.A. were apprehended. It was learned that Açik, who martyred Albayrak, and the detained suspects have numerous criminal records.
In Çekmeköy, Istanbul, gunfire was opened on the police during a drug raid. The police officer who was seriously injured died in the hospital. One of the assailants was killed while two others were captured.
SPECIAL OPERATIONS CARRIED OUT
Upon receiving a tip-off that 'firearms were being held and drug trafficking was taking place' in a building on Adnan Kahveci Street in Aydınlar Neighborhood, search warrants were obtained for apartments numbered 2, 4, and 6. A drug operation was carried out by the Special Operations Department teams of the Narcotic Crimes Investigation Branch.
POLICE MARTYRED, 1 DEAD AND 3 CAPTURED
During the raid, Ramazan Açik, who was in the house, opened fire on the police teams, resulting in a clash in which Special Operations police officer Emre Albayrak was seriously injured. Albayrak, who was taken to Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Sancaktepe Training and Research Hospital in critical condition, could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred. During the operation, suspect R.A. was neutralized, while C.A. and Ç.A. were taken into custody.
CRIMINAL RECORDS REVEALED
It was revealed that suspect C.A. had numerous criminal records for 'Intentional injury', while Ç.A. had records for 'Threat, insult', 'Intentional injury', 'Resisting a public officer', 'Drug production and trafficking', 'Ill-treatment', and 'Child abduction'. It was learned that Ramazan Açik, who was neutralized, had numerous criminal records for offenses such as 'Intentional injury', 'Threat, insult', 'Endangering traffic safety', 'Theft through informatics', and 'Ill-treatment'.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM MINISTER TUNÇ
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, who made a statement regarding the issue on his social media account, said, "I wish God's mercy upon our police officer Emre Albayrak, who was martyred as a result of gunfire during the drug operation carried out in Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, and I extend my condolences to his family and our esteemed nation. One of the suspects who opened fire on our police has been neutralized, and two suspects have been taken into custody. The judicial investigation initiated by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being conducted comprehensively and meticulously," he stated.
FUNERAL CEREMONY FOR THE MARTYR
Albayrak will be sent off on his final journey after a ceremony to be held in front of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department at 3:30 PM today, and he will be buried in the Arnavutlar Village Family Cemetery after the noon prayer at Avcı Sultan Mehmet Mosque in Ladik district of Samsun tomorrow.
BAD NEWS DELIVERED
The sad news was delivered to Albayrak's parents, Neslihan and Ramazan Albayrak, who live in Ladik district of Samsun. It was learned that 27-year-old Albayrak was married, had started his duty in Hakkari 6 years ago, and had been serving in Istanbul since 2022.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who stated, "May our nation's head be healthy. Our sorrow is immense," said, "Our heroic son Emre Albayrak, who served in the Istanbul Special Operations Department, was injured as a result of gunfire during a drug operation in Çekmeköy and was martyred despite all interventions at the hospital. I wish God's mercy upon our martyr; I extend my condolences to his family, our heroic police force, and our nation. May our martyr's place be exalted."
