The 20 military personnel who were martyred in the Turkish Air Force C-130 military cargo plane that crashed in Georgia were laid to rest, including Air Maintenance Chief Master Sergeant Hamdi Armağan Kaplan, in his hometown of Gümüşhacıköy district in Amasya. His grieving wife Hülya, 8-year-old daughter Cemre, and 12-year-old son Poyraz Efe said goodbye by hugging a photo of their martyred father that had "My dad" written on it. The words of mother Dilşat Kaplan, who bid farewell to her child with the words "Goodbye my Armağan," broke hearts.
"KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, MY SON"
His wife Hülya Kaplan also wept while hugging their son Poyraz (11) and daughter Cemre Kaplan (8). Hülya Kaplan, telling her son to keep his head up, lamented, "Keep your head up, my son, keep it up, my child. Your father is a hero." Martyr Kaplan was buried after the funeral prayer was held.
The funeral ceremony held in Gümüşhacıköy Republic Square was attended by the family, as well as Amasya Governor Önder Bakan, Deputy Minister of Energy Abdullah Tarcan, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nazif Yılmaz, Merzifon 5th Main Jet Base Commander Brigadier General Halil Uğur Serin, members of parliament, protocol members, relatives of the martyr, and many citizens.
