A presidential decree published in the Official Gazette established the Cyber Security Authority.
The duties and powers of the Cyber Security Authority are as follows according to the decree:
- To determine policies, strategies, and objectives for ensuring cyber security, prepare action plans, conduct legislative work, ensure coordination of related activities, and monitor their effective implementation.
- To carry out awareness, training, and awareness-raising activities regarding cyber security.
- To conduct projects that support cyber security and information security.
- To work on increasing cooperation among the public sector, private sector, and universities in the field of cyber security.
- To work on the development of domestic and national products and technologies in the cyber security ecosystem and to help local entrepreneurs become competitive in the global market.
- To conduct R&D and technology transfer in areas where cyber security is needed.
TO CREATE EMERGENCY AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLANS
- To carry out activities to encourage participation in exercises, events, and fairs related to cyber security held domestically or abroad.
- To conduct studies to identify cyber security vulnerabilities.
- To determine priority areas in cyber security to direct capacity to critical areas and prevent duplicate investments.
- To create emergency and crisis management plans for cyber security and establish joint operation centers within the framework of these plans.
- To provide opinions on incentives to be given by public institutions and organizations in the field of cyber security. To perform other duties assigned by legislation.
THE PROPOSAL WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE ASSEMBLY
AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated that they would present a proposal to the Assembly soon to establish the Cyber Security Authority.
