The daycare debate is escalating! Yusuf Tekin gives a harsh response to İmamoğlu.

The discussion that started with the nursery circular sent by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change continues. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted strongly to the allegations in his statements today, saying, "Your writing is irrelevant. Come and close it if you can. I need a child who asks and questions everything, not one who does not question. If we have a thousand employees today, there will be three thousand tomorrow. Take this writing of yours and throw it in the trash."

DISINFORMATION CENTER DENIED

The allegation in question was denied by the Disinformation Combat Center, stating, "In the official letter concerning the allegations, it is emphasized that the nurseries, daycare centers, and children's clubs opened by municipalities should not be closed, but should operate in accordance with their founding purpose and regulations."

HARSH RESPONSE FROM YUSUF TEKİN

Following İmamoğlu's statements, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin spoke to A Haber, saying, "I truly pity Özgür Özel. He is in manipulation within his own political party. The essence of the matter is this; the letter we sent to municipalities is not about nurseries, it cannot be about nurseries. Nurseries are outside the area of authority and responsibility of our ministry. We have no situation to tell any municipality to close a nursery or to open one according to this criterion. They say it to manipulate the public, they are lying," he stated.

Tekin, who said, "We do not write a letter saying it is for CHP or any other party," added, "We write a letter within the content of the legislation. We have no letter regarding nurseries. The letter we are referring to is about kindergartens and preschool classes," he stated.

"REPUTATION IS BEING DAMAGED IN THE PUBLIC"

Tekin also stated, "This text is the application made by CHP to the Constitutional Court to annul the right given to municipalities to open kindergartens. It is stated that municipalities cannot open kindergartens, nor should they. The relevant article of the municipality law was annulled in 2007. After the annulment decision of our ministry, no municipality has been granted the authority to open a kindergarten. For this reason, I say that either Özel or İmamoğlu do not know what their own parties are doing, or they did not understand what they read. Or they understood what they read, but for their own interests, they found it right to lie. Or CHP has become a victim of the political fights within itself. By providing such false information, their reputation is being damaged in the public," he said.
