Çorum FK, who were promoted to the Süper Lig by beating Esenler Erokspor 2-0 in the 1. Lig play-off final, had their joy cut short. Çorum FK Technical Director Uğur Uçar announced that Attamah's father passed away during the match, saying, "We received tragic news after the match. We learned that Attamah's father had passed away. That's why we will not extend our celebrations today."
Çorum FK, who rose to the Süper Lig by beating Esenler Erokspor 2-0 in the 1st League play-off final, received their trophy from Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak and Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Vice President Mecnun Otyakmaz. The red-blacks celebrated the joy of promotion to the Süper Lig with the trophy.
'THIS STORY IS NOT MY STORY' Speaking at the press conference held after the match, Çorum FK Technical Director Uğur Uçar said, 'First of all, I want to say this. Konya has a very special place for me. During my football career, I suffered a very serious injury here, one that hindered my career. Is this fate's irony? I don't know what to say. As a technical director, I am here in a different story. I feel very different emotions. I don't know what to say, I am very excited. This is my first trophy as a coach. Hopefully, more will follow. But this story is not my story. On the first day I arrived, I told the players that I came because I believed in you. But I said you are the protagonists of this story. I thank them for their efforts and hard work. They gave everything, did everything we said. And we have received the reward. The biggest thanks go to the city of Çorum. Because they came together incredibly. They lived and breathed with us. They deserved this championship the most. Let them celebrate and enjoy. But I just want to say this: Let them be careful. Don't hit the road at night. Let our joy not be cut short. After that, we will continue this celebration in Çorum.'
'WE RECEIVED SAD NEWS AFTER THE MATCH' Technical director Uğur Uçar, stating that Attamah's father, who played in the match, passed away during the game, therefore they postponed their celebrations, said, 'We received sad news after the match. We learned that Attamah's father passed away. That's why we will not prolong our celebration today. May Allah have mercy on him, may his place be heaven.'
