Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ celebrated the birthday of the founding leader of the MHP, Alparslan Türkeş. In his congratulatory message shared on social media, Özdağ also targeted İsmet İnönü, the 2nd President of the Republic of Turkey. In his post, Özdağ stated, "Today is the birthday of the late Alparslan Türkeş. He was born in occupied Cyprus. He came to Turkey and became an officer. He opposed throughout his life the deviation from the founding philosophy of the Republic of Turkey, which began with İsmet İnönü's statement on May 19, 1944, 'Being a Turkish nationalist was a duty for every Turk, and from now on it is a right.' He represented the idea of Turkish unity in politics, and this dream was largely realized. The Organization of Turkish States was established. His response to the supporters of the separatist organization was, 'What mosaic, get out of the way, dogs.' His last statement, made one hour before his passing, was about Atatürk: 'Atatürk is the Himalayas of Turkishness.'" MUHARREM İNCE'S STRONG RESPONSEHomeland Party Chairman Muharrem İnce responded to Özdağ without naming him on his social media account. İnce wrote, "Those who cannot speak against Atatürk insult İsmet İnönü, Atatürk's comrade in arms and the architect of our National Struggle. Those who do this have a fake understanding of Atatürkism; they are no different from those who call Atatürk and İsmet İnönü 'two drunks.' You are all the same, you are enemies of Atatürk."
