16.10.2024 17:31

The Istanbul 48th Criminal Court of First Instance has issued a decision for the 'compulsory appearance' of former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, despite the objections of his lawyers. It is stated that the decision was made in the context of a defamation case filed by President Erdoğan's former lawyer, Mustafa Doğan İnal.

In the hearing held today, Mustafa Doğan İnal's lawyer stated that the complaints against former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu continue and requested the court to compel Kılıçdaroğlu to appear. The court found this request valid and decided to compel the defendant to appear.

THE LAWYER'S REQUEST WAS NOT ACCEPTED

Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer Celal Çelik's authorized representative, Lawyer Uğur Çelik, stated, "Our client's residence is in Ankara, and we request that the instructions be sent here." However, the court did not accept this request and decided to compel Kılıçdaroğlu to appear in court.

In a statement regarding the matter, Barış Yarkadaş said, "An interesting development occurred in the case opened upon the complaint of former lawyer of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mustafa Doğan İnal. In the hearing of the case filed by Lawyer İnal on the grounds of 'insult', İnal's lawyer stated that the complaints against Kılıçdaroğlu continue. Lawyer Uğur Çelik, who participated in the hearing with the authorization of Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer Celal Çelik, requested, 'Our client's residence is in Ankara. Please send the instructions to Ankara.' Lawyer Furkan Keskin, representing Mustafa Doğan İnal, requested the court to 'compel Kılıçdaroğlu to appear.' The Istanbul 48th Criminal Court of First Instance found this request valid and decided to 'compel the defendant to appear.'

"IF HE DOES NOT ATTEND THE HEARING..."

Yarkadaş stated that the court also set the hearing date as February 18, 2025, saying, "Accordingly, if Kılıçdaroğlu does not attend the hearing, the 'compelling' decision will be implemented. This means that Kılıçdaroğlu will be brought to the hearing by the police."
