In Renaissance Residence, which collapsed in the earthquakes on February 6 in Hatay, according to official figures, 269 people, including Hatayspor football player Christian Atsu, Hatayspor Sports Director Taner Savut, and national handball player Cemal Kütahya, lost their lives and 13 people were injured. After the collapse, contractor Mehmet Yaşar Coşkun, authorized representative of the construction supervision company Mehmet Haşim Eraslan, director of the construction supervision company, and Bülent Seküçoğlu, one of the company partners, and control officer Önder Artun were arrested on charges of 'causing the death of multiple people through conscious negligence'.
COMPANY PARTNER WANTED WITH RED NOTICE
A.K., one of the authorized representatives of the construction supervision company, construction technician İ.D., and site manager B.M. were released pending trial. Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun, the brother of fugitive contractor Mehmet Yaşar Coşkun and responsible for the static project of the residence, site manager, and company partner, is wanted with a red notice.
COLLAPSED WHILE MAKING HIS DEFENSE
The trial of the 4 imprisoned defendants, 1 fugitive, and 8 defendants, who are demanded to be imprisoned for up to 22 years and 6 months, continued at the Hatay 5th Heavy Penal Court. The imprisoned defendants and their lawyers were also present at the trial. While contractor Mehmet Yaşar Coşkun was making his defense, Bülent Seküçoğlu, one of the company partners, suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Health teams called to the courtroom took Seküçoğlu to the hospital by ambulance after the initial intervention. The trial was adjourned.
