The DEM Party's reaction to Minister Tunç regarding 'Imralı': Stop the procrastination.

24.12.2024 16:03

The co-chair of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bakırhan, stated that the delegation planning to visit İmralı is waiting for permission from the Ministry of Justice, and he expressed, "I believe it is time to abandon this procrastination and for the Minister of Justice to truly open the door there and facilitate the discussions as soon as possible."

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan answered questions from the press following the group meeting of his party held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

"THE DOOR OF IMRALI MUST BE OPENED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"

In response to a question regarding the delegation expected to go to Imralı, Bakırhan stated that they have not received a clear answer so far, saying, "Every time the Minister of Justice says something. First, he said, 'We are trying to set a date. We are waiting for the budget discussions.' We are curious and waiting. I think it is time to stop this procrastination and for the Minister of Justice to really open the door there and facilitate the discussions."

"THE ISSUE IS NOT WHO WILL GO, BUT WHAT IS SAID FROM IMRALI"

Bakırhan noted that all members of parliament, including the co-chairs of the DEM Party, have applied to go to Imralı, stating, "The issue is not who will go, but what is said from there. It is important for us how this contributes to these discussions and this process. That’s why we are waiting. We need to ask the Minister of Justice what they are waiting for; we do not understand that either," he said. In response to a question, Bakırhan added, "If there is sincerity, why shouldn't it turn into a process?"
