In the dispute at the TÜVTÜRK station in Ankara, police officer Melih Okan Keskin, who was assaulted, fell ill after returning home and was taken to the hospital. Diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage, Keskin was treated in intensive care but lost his three-day battle for life.

After the fight with the employees of the inspection station where he took his vehicle in Ankara, the police officer who fell ill passed away in the hospital where he was being treated. One of the two suspects detained in connection with the incident was arrested.

"STOP LIGHT" FIGHT

In the Yenimahalle district, on February 2, police officer Melih Okan Keskin (44) had a dispute with the station employees who did not pass his vehicle for inspection, stating that the stop light was not working.

In the incident that turned into a fight, Keskin, who was allegedly assaulted, fell ill a few hours later and was taken to the hospital. Diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage, Keskin was treated in intensive care and lost his three-day battle for life.

A CEREMONY WAS HELD

A ceremony was held at the Ankara Police Department for the deceased police officer. Keskin's funeral was buried after the ceremony. Two suspects detained by the police in connection with the incident were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.

ONE OF THE SUSPECTS WAS ARRESTED

One of the suspects brought to court was arrested, while the other was released under judicial control. The exact cause of Keskin's death will be clarified after the autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institution.

TÜVTÜRK MADE A STATEMENT

In a statement made by TÜVTÜRK, the following expressions were included:

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred on February 2, 2026, at the Ankara İvedik Vehicle Inspection Station and was reflected in the public. According to the information obtained, it has been determined that during the discussion that took place in the parking area after the inspection process between the vehicle owner Police Officer Melih Okan Keskin and our employee Saruhan Atasoy, the employee intervened physically in an unacceptable manner. Our company does not tolerate violent behavior under any circumstances, and the employment contract of the relevant employee was immediately terminated following the identification of the incident.

After the incident, the parties reported to the law enforcement agencies, and a judicial process was initiated. It has been learned with great sadness that later that same day, Melih Okan Keskin fell ill and sought hospital care, and he passed away on February 5, 2026.

The investigation process conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institution to definitively determine the cause of the late Melih Okan Keskin's death is ongoing, and the matter is being evaluated by the judicial authorities in all aspects. The former employee Saruhan Atasoy has been arrested within the scope of the ongoing investigation, and the legal process is continuing.
