Three suspects detained in the bus crash in Manisa Akhisar that killed 11 people were referred to the courthouse. It was learned that the bus driver, M.A., said in his statement, "When the passengers said we had missed the junction, I tried to enter the emergency lane by reversing."
The bus driver, bus owner, and truck driver who were detained in connection with the horrific traffic accident in Akhisar district of Manisa, in which 11 people lost their lives and 27 were injured, have been referred to the courthouse. It was learned that driver M.A. stated in his statement to the gendarmerie that the accident occurred while he was trying to maneuver backward after passengers said they had missed the intersection.
Regarding the massacre-like accident on the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway at the Akhisar Toll Booths area, in which 11 people died and 27 were injured as a result of the truck with license plate 78 YD 559 driven by H.K. crashing into the tour bus with license plate 16 AED 124 driven by M.A., the judicial process continues.
After the accident, the procedures at the Akhisar District Gendarmerie Command of tour bus driver M.A., bus owner and relief driver M.Y., and truck driver H.K., who were detained after their hospital treatments were completed, were completed. The suspects were referred to Akhisar Courthouse under security measures.
STATEMENTS OF THE SUSPECTS
Within the scope of the investigation, the initial statements of the suspects detained at the gendarmerie were obtained:
- Bus driver M.A.: In his statement, he said that the accident occurred while he was trying to maneuver backward and enter the emergency lane after passengers said they had missed the intersection. It was determined that M.A. took over the bus driving from M.Y. in Susurluk district of Balıkesir.
- Bus owner and relief driver M.Y.: M.Y., who stated that he was sitting in a seat in the back rows during the accident, said that after noticing that the driver had missed the intersection, he stood up and moved forward when he felt the collision and was thrown into the front seats.
- Truck driver H.K.: He stated that while traveling in his own lane, he suddenly noticed the tour bus and, unable to find the opportunity to maneuver left, crashed into the bus.
TREATMENT OF 13 INJURED CONTINUES
It was reported that of the 27 people injured in the horrific accident, 13 were discharged after their treatments at hospitals, while the treatment processes of the remaining 13 injured continue in hospitals. The interrogations at the prosecutor's office of the 3 suspects referred to the courthouse are ongoing.
