After an elephant killed a Spanish tourist in Taylan, a lawsuit was filed against the elephant's caretaker. The 22-year-old tourist, Blanca Ojanguren García, was injured on the head after the caretaker, who was washing the animal, pushed the elephant. Garcia died in the hospital to which she was taken. Experts stated that the elephant may have experienced stress due to interacting with tourists. CARETAKER ACCUSED OF NEGLIGENCEAuthorities stated in a statement that 38-year-old Theerayut Inthaphudkij has been charged with 'negligence causing death.' The statement said, "Any 'protection area' that allows people to touch elephants, feed them, wash them, or engage in any close interaction with them is not a sanctuary for elephants and puts the lives of both tourists and animals in critical danger."
