This year, the tradition for Eid al-Adha remained unchanged. Across the country, citizens who wanted to fulfill their religious duties ended up injuring themselves and headed to the emergency services.
After the Eid al-Adha prayer, citizens who wanted to slaughter their sacrificial animals created a crowd in the slaughtering areas from the early hours of the morning. However, as in every holiday, accidents were inevitable this time as well. Due to carelessness or inexperience during the slaughtering, many citizens from across the country were injured in various parts of their bodies and headed to hospitals. Authorities warned citizens to be careful during the slaughtering and, if possible, to leave the job to professionals.
THEY FLOODED EMERGENCY SERVICES
In Kayseri, citizens who injured themselves while trying to fulfill their religious duties during Eid al-Adha flocked to emergency services. Citizens who injured their hands and feet with knives were treated in the hospital.
"I INJURED MYSELF WHILE SKINNING THE SHEEP"
As in the rest of the country, after the Eid prayer in Adana, the slaughtering of sacrificial animals began. While trying to slaughter the animals, some people were injured by the animals' blows and cutting tools. Many injured individuals went to the emergency services of hospitals for treatment.
Seyithan Baran, who came to Yüreğir State Hospital, stated that he injured himself with a knife, saying, "I was slaughtering a sheep, and while skinning the sheep, the knife hit my hand, and I cut my hand a little. My brother kindly brought me to the hospital. May everyone's work go well, be very careful while slaughtering. It happened to me; I hope it doesn't happen to them," he said.
THE SCENE DID NOT CHANGE IN MALATYA EITHER
On the first day of Eid al-Adha in Malatya, many inexperienced butchers who injured themselves during the slaughtering applied to the emergency services of hospitals. Some of the citizens who applied to the Emergency Service of Malatya Training and Research Hospital were injured when the animal fell on them, while others were injured in their hands, arms, and legs by knives. It was learned that the health conditions of the injured treated in the emergency service were good.
HOSPITALS WERE FILLED WITH INEXPERIENCED BUTCHERS
In the İnegöl district of Bursa, inexperienced butchers who injured themselves during the slaughtering filled the emergency service. Some were injured by the horns of the sacrificial animals, some while slaughtering the animals, and others while cutting the meat. The vast majority of the injured were discharged after the initial interventions. Some citizens were transferred to various hospitals in Bursa by ambulances.
"THE COW SQUEEZED ME WHILE SLAUGHTERING"
In Düzce, 27 people who were injured while trying to slaughter animals applied to the emergency services of hospitals from the early hours of the morning. Some citizens in the city center, districts, towns, and villages who tried to slaughter their sacrificial animals or help with the slaughtering were injured by cutting tools or the blows of the animals. Especially those injured in their hands, feet, and legs applied to various hospitals from the early hours of the morning. The injured who were treated in the emergency services were discharged after their treatments.
A citizen who stated that the cow squeezed him during the slaughtering said, "The cow squeezed me during the slaughtering. It scraped the skin on my arm. There is no problem," he said.
"THE KNIFE SLIPPED"
Ferhat Ergin, who was injured while slaughtering his own animals, said, "While slaughtering the animal, the tip of the knife slipped and hit my leg. The doctors said there was no significant problem; they stitched me up four times. God willing, when I go home, I will continue working. I can't do very heavy work, but I will handle the butchering. After all, the animals are our own," he said.
In Sivas, individuals who were injured in various parts of their bodies during the slaughtering applied to hospitals. It was observed that those who came to the hospital were generally injured in their hands, arms, and legs. Those who were treated at Numune Hospital and Sivas Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty Hospital were discharged after their treatments.
Some individuals in Samsun who wanted to slaughter their own sacrificial animals were also injured during the slaughtering. The injured who came to the emergency service of Samsun Training and Research Hospital were treated.
