The General Directorate of Meteorology, AKOM, and the governorship had issued warnings about the possibility of snowfall in Istanbul over the weekend. As a result of a significant drop in temperature in the city, snowfall began on the Asian side.

Snowfall has started in the high areas of some districts in Istanbul. While the downpour that began in the morning hours continues in the city, it has given way to snowfall in the high areas of Kartal, Ataşehir, Sultanbeyli, and Sancaktepe on the Asian side. Snow cover has formed in some roadside areas, parks, and gardens in the high areas, especially on Aydos Hill. Citizens captured the first snow of the season in the city with their mobile phones.
