The announcement of the agreement between Israel and Hamas was met with joy in the Gaza Strip. Palestinians gathered in the courtyard of the Aks Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah to celebrate. Meanwhile, following the decision, UN Secretary-General Guterres expressed his satisfaction with the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, calling on the parties to implement the agreement. FIRST STATEMENT FROM HAMASIn the first statement made by Hamas following the eagerly awaited ceasefire news, it was stated, "The ceasefire agreement is a success of our people, our resistance, our community, and the free people of the world." The statement included the following remarks: "The ceasefire agreement is the result of our people's heroic resistance and the epic stance of our people in Gaza for more than 15 months. The ceasefire agreement is an important turning point in our struggle against the enemy and a step towards achieving our people's freedom goal. This agreement stems from our responsibility towards our people; we signed it to stop the Zionist attacks, end the bloodshed, and put an end to the genocide. We express our gratitude to the honorable people of the world who support Gaza and stand in solidarity with our people." AGREEMENT WILL START ON JANUARY 19Following the agreement, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Al Sani addressed the cameras and made statements. Sani announced that the ceasefire would begin on January 19. HAMAS WILL RELEASE 33 ISRAELIS WITHIN 6 WEEKSAccording to the agreement, it is guaranteed that 600 trucks of humanitarian aid will arrive in Gaza every day of the ceasefire. Additionally, according to the agreement, Hamas will release 33 Israelis, including all women, children, and men over the age of 50, within 6 weeks. Israel will release 30 Palestinian detainees for each civilian hostage and 50 Palestinians for each Israeli woman. Furthermore, Israel will release all Palestinians under the age of 19 who were detained since October 7, 2023. The second phase of the agreement will be discussed on the 16th day of the first phase.
